The Quest for Healthy Skin
As a kid, I never suffered from dry skin. I was under the group of the "oily skinned". But then High School came and with that come the breakouts. At that time I was using "pond's facial wash", that was the trend of people my age, and my pimples started popping out of nowhere. So the first visit to the dermatologist suggested that I use a baby soap ( I chose Ivory) to wash my face for only 3 seconds and should not exceed 10 seconds. It was a very good advice since from that day on, I could say that pimples came out only when its the time of the month.
Next thing I knew, I was in college maybe I was 18 then. As what is claimed and what we always read in magazines, your skin changes while you age. Eeeew, what a very strong word age hahaha. I developed dry skin on some areas of my face. I can be both under the oily skinned and dry skinned. Such a dilemma for me on which face products to use. What the dermatologist told me? hehehe use only water to clean your face no soap. Hahaha gross???? nah!
Despite of the no soap rule i still had dry areas near my nose, my mouth and eyebrows. It tends to peel and be itchy. I started using moisturizers. I tried using shisheido's liquid moidturizers it helped a little, then I used clinique, it also only helped a little. Then I asked another opinion from another doctor, and there it was detected I had a skin disorder. Hehehe yup disorder it is. But she just gave me a prescription for a kind of soap that will not cure but prevent the disorder from appearing since there is no available cure for it. Thankfully, this time it worked. But i had to apply it religiously at least 3 times a week.
Now that's my ritual. The prescribed soap in the morning. Skin Fud's tomato moisturizer then sun block. At night, I only wash my face with water (3-10 sec) and put on moisturizer before I sleep.
But I'm still not done with the quest for healthy skin since I have an ideal skin which seems too unreachable for me... In my dreams... hahhaha :)
Watch out for my next post.
